I'm starting this thread to let everyone show off what they have in their collection.

For whatever it's worth, I finally updated my humble anime & manga collection and you can view a somewhat slap-together format .html of it here:

Enjoy! :2)

How long did you take to collect that big a collection? It must be worth thousands of dollars!

The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, Yomi's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! you can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!!

Well, most of the anime I've downloaded via P2P clients, and it's for the most part fansubbed material. So it's not that expensive... just the time and effort compiling a couple hundred CDs of AVIs is the 'value' I would put into most of it.

The DVDs are the most valulable part of the collection - also a part that needs more updating now that I see several titles missing from this current list.

Due to licensing purchases since many of these titles were collected at the time, I no longer offer several titles for trading or fansub distribution. I'll still show some of the 'blacklist' titles in private showings, though... and on my nice home theater setup at that! >;2)

Just stick around in the anime world as long as I have, and in no time you'll have at least as big, if not bigger, a collection of anime as I have here. ;2)

Oh, the scary part of this collection is that I haven't seen many of the titles listed therein (eg: Noir, Psychic Academy Aura Banshou, Puni Puni Poemi, Rizelmine, Scryed, With Hunter Robin, etc.)

I guess I have stuff for a rainy day, eh? ;2)

Show off time! I'll go make a list and get back with you.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Danek, sorry getting back to you so late on answering your question. Mao Chan is a very cute show, all age appropriate, about three little girls (I think they're younger than fourth grade, not sure) who fight for Japan by ground, air and sea. They fight these cute little aliens - really cute - who arrive on earth via U.F.O. balls. Is that a spoiler? It was written by Ken Akamatsu of Love Hina fame (my son's favorite mangaka).

On the other end of the spectrum is Kah Doh Maru. It is a serious and very sad anime with a tragic ending. Is that a spoiler, too? I've only seen it once, since I prefer happier anime shows. However, the art work is absolutely beautiful. I think they used a water color type style. It's worth seeing at least once just to look at the art work.

Both sound really interesting, chloe! Thanks! *add 2 more titles to the 'to-watch' list*

I have a friend here in town who he and I met Ken Akamatsu last year at ACen '02. He's a real big fan of his for love Hina, and I may be able to get him interested in Mao Chan if I mention its roots.

As for tragedy, that's all fine with me. Not everything in life has a great ending. Windaria is a classic tragedy anime title. Great story too. The artwork you describe in Kah Doh Maru sounds *really* appealing to me, as I've painted a little in watercolor, and can appreciate the work and the time that goes into it to make it look good.

Again, doomo!

Hey, we all have to start somewhere, mon ami.

My first DVD was Castle Cagliostro, back in '00 when I was starting to get back into anime for the 3rd time. ;2)

I only own 1 anime DVD... Grave of the Fireflies... I'm getting some this month, unless school and such drains my resources... Especially if I get another job, I'll definately be buying... I plan on getting everything on my list (anime, games, cds, and books) when I start getting money to pay for things... My list amounts to about 1600 right now, but it will go up when I think of more things... It'll take a while to get all of that... Hopefully before I go to Full Sail, though it may be good to not have anime, games, and books with me while I'm there because I will have to focus full time on animation... ER, well I will need to fit in time for church and my prayer and such, but especially with that, I'll have no time for other things... That's quite a ways away...

Shhhh Don't tell anyone the government has finaced my anime and video game collection. (disability checks) I guess having an Unknown disorder does pay off.

On another note, here's one standard I've used to keep my anime collection somewhat under control:

**Ojiisan's 5 Rules of Selecting Anything for a Video Collection**

1) It must be something I can watch over and over and still never lose *any* of the enjoyment from the first time seeing it.

2) It must have a great story.

3) It must have a great cinematic (or animation) quality for what it's portraying.

4) I must be able to consider it superlative in its genre and medium. (It must {now} rate at least a 9.25 or better on my personal scale)

5) It must be reasonably priced (read: CHEAP!!!).
