Voice acting for CAATourney2?

Postby Ingemar » Sat Feb 19, 2005 12:44 am

One day, I thought "Wouldn't it be cool if at least one scene in The 2nd Annual CAA Tournament had voices instead of text?" That is more likely a pipe-dream. One idea I had was simply to do a spot as anchor of CASN with a very James Earl Jones-like "THIS IS CASN" announcement against the intro of the song "Lift" by Poets of the fall (awesome Finnish band, btw).

If something like this is to materialize, it would depend on several things:

1. Availability
2. Willingness
3. EQUIPMENT! (only microphone is necessary)
4. Coordination. If we can't bring it together, the project can never get off the ground.

I'm not in any proximity to any of the characters besides John Yamamoto. ON top of that, Yamamoto-sensei doesn't even know he's a part of the play, and I'm afraid to find out his reaction to it.

Whaddaya guys think?

Sure, I'm up for it! ^_^ A lot of you already know what I sound like when I sing... O_o ...so now you can all hear what I sound like when I talk! O_o;;; (Just be warned that when I speak I'll be acting in my own character and not your perceived one, though. ^_~ )

Wow. . . that would be cool. . .

What parts are there going to be?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

The parts will be the same as they are in the Tournament thread. I'm thinking if it does happen, it will probably be of a scene that I have already written.

But what a voice.

I've got a lousy Palm Pilot mic. I need to get soundproofing up in the closet so I can use that. I do have a proper omni mic but nothing set up to record yet (and the mixer is allocated to the DVD player right now).

I use OpD2d for my recordings.
It can record anything that comes out
of your speakers ( yes even music -_-)

I was hoping (if this is still a viable idea) that each person would do only whatever lines they have for 2/2.5. I'm not sure how that would work. It would have been great during AX if Shoob and I (or even Mechana) could have done a sound bite for CASN which I could have recorded on my big fraggin' digicam.

So Locke, that would meany you would mainly be doing the "Phinal Phantasy" match of 2.5. But if we really are up against the wall as far as voice talent, we can just have multiple casting (but hopefully, we have at least one girl).

If you want to do Vicky Angel-chan, you can. But you musn't EVER let up the bubbly personality (Vicky's, I mean). Not even when we discover
that she is evil.
