Projects or project ideas in the works

Let's get this show on the road!

Postby Gypsy » Thu Jul 10, 2003 12:27 pm

Ok, everyone buckle up, because Gypsy is about to jump-start …everything!

I’ll tell you right off that organization and I aren’t close buddies – but I’m giving it my best shot. I took the bulk of the project ideas and sorted and condensed until I was cross-eyed. I’ve narrowed it down to four incredibly large-scale projects.

1. Integrated online rpg
2. Manga – online and printed
3. Short Animations
4. Pilgrim’s Progress

Yeah, I split Pilgrim’s Progress from the manga section – but hang on and you’ll see why. My plan of action is to delegate team leaders for each project. By utilizing our handy-dandy CAA calendar, each leader can see their own project’s tentative schedule and the check points. Because I’m organizing everything, (I should say attempting to organize everything) I think it would be easiest if I was the person that all of these leaders check in with. I’ll explain more of this later.

1. Integrated online rpg
We have a thread here about a Christian online rpg. I think it’s a completely awesome idea. However, the scale of this project and the work involved is mind-boggling. Also, this isn’t one of those projects that 50 people can work on and get done quicker. Because of the nature of the programming and planning, this can only be accomplished by a small team of people. I’ll say 5 just for reference. Those who initially wanted to help in these areas and offered to do so were as follows:

a. Djnoz – (I mean, he thought of it)
b. Uc pseudonym – creative consulting and set up
c. Shooraijin – programming
d. Old Philosopher – ditto

I think that Aaron and I could also be of some help as well. We’ve got a pretty good idea of RPG systems and we both love to think up/design worlds. As for the leader of this project – I’d go ahead and suggest Djnoz.

2. Manga – online and printed
We have so many good artists kicking around that it’s not funny. Also, we have lots of HTML savvy members as well. I’m picturing a section of CAA where compact teams of members can post their manga series. This is for those who are really antsy about working on a manga, but really don’t know where they can fit in on the Pilgrim’s Progress project. If you’re interested, let me know what you’d like to/can do and I’ll work on splitting everyone up into teams. Artists and writers are a given for job descriptions. If you want to form your own teams – that’s cool, just let me know. I’ll decide on a leader to head up this whole thing later.
One specification, however. I’ll ask that none of this will be fanfic/fanart of any kind.

As for the printing part – this is being set on the back burner. After a few series play out – I’d like to make a CAA printed collection. Now, I understand that online art reqs and printed ones are very different – but chances are the first printed issue won’t be stunning TokyoPop quality anyway.

3. Short Animations
Nekomi and Ashley have already started on this, and Djnoz has offered to work on the music aspect. That also brought on the music video ideas. Obviously either Ashley or Nekomi will be one of the leaders for this project. I’m not sure on any of the fine details on this one, so I can’t do too much with it until either Nekomi or Ashley sends me info.

4. Pilgrim’s Progress
Before I post on this, I need all the chat records/ scripts that we have. So if Ashley, Turbo, or Shinja could please send those to me, I’ll have a better idea of how to go about organizing this.

Ok, now for the big part. If you are interested at all on any of these projects, I need to know. Please, email me, (wanderinggypsy34@msn.com) because I keep better track of my emails than I do my private messages. And just because I suggested you as a leader or even a member of a certain team does not mean you have to do it. This is all speculative, nothing set in stone, blah blah blah. However, I really would like you to email me about this rather than just replying to this thread. It will be all that much easier for me to organize and such. Please be sure to put something relevant to this in the subject box, otherwise, you might accidentally get thrown in the trashcan with the junk mail.

Thanks!

Animations Update

Postby Ashley » Tue Jul 15, 2003 6:54 pm

As of today, Nekomi and I are working pretty quickly to get this done. We have 2 concept art designs up (see http://www.winds.org/nekomi) and the other 3 (5 characters in all) should be up by this weekend. After that, it's waiting on the penciltest program to be written, and then we get into the actual frame workups. This could take...I'm estimating...roughly a month or two. After that, it'll come to me and I'll color/shade/light, etc. which will take roughly another month. Then we've got to find a way to add music, but that shouldn't take very long. Then voila, it's webready...assuming all goes according to plan. Much thanks goes to my very patient and extremely loveable Nekomi. She's been great folks.

I would love to be one of the artists for the RPG game. I already have a couple of Ideas for characters as well. Also the brother of a guy I know in another site wants to make a comicbook. It would be cool if we could somehow have the comic relate to the game. of course we'll work on the comic and you guys could work on the game!

Just a reminder - all of those who wish to help in any area need to contact me. Thanks to the few members that have already done so, but I know for a fact that more people said they were interested. So again, please email me! (wanderinggypsy34@msn.com)

General idea for anyone working on a manga. We should all keep some small degree of unity in the entire thing. If you actually make one, and it gets a stamp of approval from the admin, we should all put a similar logo on it. Like the CAA emblem on the cover or something. That way we actually create somewhat of a web presence.

That's a neat idea! I'd put it on mine.

BOOSTER: Hey, No.1! Where's my cake?!
SNIFIT 1: Booster, Sir! There's a 70% chance the object you're standing on is a cake.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Maybe we could have a CAA watermark on all the pages.

Hmmm...that would be neat but it might detract from whatever was on the page. Could we maybe just brand the "covers" of each manga?

Thanks to everyone who responded. My internet availability is a tad fuzzy at the moment, but I really am working on getting this all sorted out and running smoothly. Just give the Gypsy a little more time ...
