I read Dracula by Bram Stoker just to understand this comic better. ;)

(It was already on my reading list -- it just got bumped up a couple books!)

Fwee! Hooray! I love you. I love you all. I would probably die for anyone who actually reads my comic. But that would suck, because then there would be no more comic.

Not really an update, just forgot to include this last time.

Expect quite a bit of religious discussion. After about 200 pages or so.

I said this on my DA page, but if you want me to hurry up with the comic, bug the everliving daylights out of me! I'm a terrible procrastinator and I really need to stop being one. Don't be shy because "oh she's busy" NO I AM NOT! I am just lazy. I welcome the bugs. Help me out, please. :)

LOL! I think the Count is correct this time...

Anyway, this comic is very cool! I'm almost finished with Dracula the novel, so this is quite fun to read. I love all the Victorian clothes, and I love Van Helsing! I like your Dracula, too. He's got personality.

Real vampires! I like the thrown-in picture of them discussing religion.

Thanks, guys! And welcome, Ante Bellum. Glad you're enjoying the comic so far. Sadly, all the bugging in the world won't get me to draw upcoming pages in the next couple of months...completely swamped with school and conventions, but fear not, the show will go on!

Eh, I've got about a year until I go to another convention. But I can understand how busy one can get.

I'm working on a whole bunch of (vampire-related, ha-ha, whaddyaknow) prints for convention as well as some other more experimental items, and also a little sampler comic for FOTD which will require a cover, a back cover graphic, and all that my wee bit of graphic design knowledge can muster up. I'll be posting all those up in this thread if anyone's interested.

A couple of people started watching my comic on DA and I felt guilty that they wouldn't be getting updates for a while, so I started pencilling the next page. Slowly.

In the meantime, here's a picture of Vlad before he became a vampire.

I never would have thought that your Dracula used to have a moustache. o_o XP Also, I've heard that Bram Stoker's Dracula was not based on Vlad the Impaler. 'Not sure if this is true, so you might want to look it up.

HAhaha the mustache. I had debated so long if I was going to put the mustache in the comic...my initial FOTD Dracula sketch had no mustache and my friend and I really liked it, so it stuck. But I wanted to give him one in order to tie it in to the novel more, but when I gave him the mustache for the prologue he looked like Timothy Dalton from Hot Fuzz, so that was nixed. XD In the end I decided to drop it altogether for the sake of visual consistency.

You heard correctly. It's quite possible that Stoker just heard the name somewhere, thought "That sounds cool," and stuck it in. However I've been a fan of the Impaler/Count connection because I watched the movie by Francis Ford Coppola. XD Also when I found out that the fictional Dracula was not based on the real one, I kept the historical Dracula intentionally because he gave me something to work with in terms of character development.

There does seem to be a strong connection between the Impaler Vlad and Dracula.
