Is Ouran yaoi?

Didn't find any in the review, but in an AMV I saw some yaoi-looking stuffs/twincest. I borrowed Book 1 of Ouran High School Host Club from the library and I'm also interested in the anime, but is it yaoi?
I really don't want yaoi/yuri in my viewing because homosexuality is a sin and yaoi and yuri affect my thinking and lead it toward sinful thoughts. So is Ouran yaoi? Is it ok, or should I return the book without reading it just to be safe. God bless you guys!

No, no, no, a thousand times, no. Ouran is not yaoi. The twins play up the twincest angle, but both are straight and aren't actually into each other.

Rule number one, never judge a series on its AMVs, fanfictions, or doujinshi. These are all fan made things and usually do not reflect the series' original meaning and/or purpose.

That being said, whoever thing Ouran is yaoi doesn't get the joke.
I echo what Hat mentioned, and actually, even later on in the story, Hikaru (one of the twins) starts liking Haruhi (who is a girl, which is a spoiler, but only for the first few chapters of the manga. You find out early).

Actually, both of the twins like Haruhi.

Oh yes, I forgot! That's what I get for not reading the manga for a while (and now I want to rewatch the anime. Thanks a lot, Hat XP)

What the others said. Never judge any series on any fan-made stuff. Ever. Are you seriously trusting something fan-made over a solid, mod-approved review on a Christian site?

Def. no yaoi. Or yuri. It makes fun of yaoi fangirls, though.

Also: since homosexuality is controvertial as a sin even among Christians (we've had some short talks about it on this site, and oth sides of the debate are on here), it's just better to say that you don't care for it in your anime or manga without going into the details.

They make a couple yaoi jokes with the twins but there is no actual yaoi stuff in there. It is pretty clean for the most part with maybe a swear or two in various episodes and there is one scene of a female character in a bra but it is pretty short lived. Great show though, you should so watch it.

 Ouran is straight, but played with the homosexual angle. The twins are straight, although they play up the twincest angle for the host club guests. Honey and Mori are straight. Haruhi's father is bisexual though...I think. He isn't in it a ton, but he does crossdress...and...oh yes. The Lobelia girls are, well, I think they're played up for the yuri jokes? But I skip those episodes anyways. If homosexuality in jest, even, makes you uncomfortable? Steer clear of Ouran. I am of the belief that it is a sin as well, but I find humor where it's spoofed, not...actual, amusing. But it definitely has some awkward moments...

Crossdressing doesn't = bisexual.

But he goes outright and says he likes both men and women.

When does he say that? I don't remember him ever saying anything like that. He plays it up a bit but he I don't remember him saying that he is attracted to both men and women.

I think I do remember that in the manga, but not in the anime.

I thought he mentioned it in the anime, but I know he outright mentions it in the manga.

Well, he mentions to his boss how he's bi, but he can't love another woman after his wife's death, and I'm pretty sure that's in the anime.

I've found the language in the Dub makes the issue teeter on a knife edge. But that's with Mori and Honey. It clear cuts it with the twins. Another note would be when that despicably annoying girls high shows up. That ones language boarderlined a bit.
That's how it seemed to me, at least, but I may have just been getting tired of crossdressing jokes at the time. XD

This topic pops up like every two months and every time everyone says the same thing.

Maybe there should be a sticky or something.

It does, doesn't it. I'll make a mental note to lock/redirect next time it does.

I know! I'm sorry I didn't clarify two separate points! *grumble, gripe* :P
