...Isn't 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time' hentai? I seem to recall a manga that had a very similar name which had a lot of hentai in it.

I don't know where you got that idea, since the movie is about a girl that can leap through time. The movie theme is Drama, Romance, Science fiction and Slice of life.

The movie is related to the manga called A Girl Who Runs Through Time, which is a Romance and Supernatural story.

But the movie was adapted off of Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo manga (The Little Girl Who Conquered Time). The manga was a Japanese novel written by Yasutaka Tsutsui about a girl who accidentally acquires the ability to travel through time.

The novel was printed in the youth magazines Chu-3 Course and Kou-1 Course and ran from 1965 to 1966.

They did make a manga, that was set as a prelude to the film and was printed in the Shō]

I know of what Aleolus speaks. They aren't related at all.

I read about it.It simply is about this girl who learns she can travel through time and change her life,at first she does really silly things but then she learns that what she does has consequences.

Awesome..

I have a question, although I don't know if you can answer it.. Gunslinger Girl 2 apparently started airing in Japan in January. Will it be likely to get licensed, and how long would that probably be from now?

Thanks
~Dan

The countdown.

I'd love FUNimation if they licensed Baccano!, but a "Big huge reveal" countdown splash page suggests a popular property with more fan attention. Not to play the underrated card, Baccano! has certainly picked up some steam in recent months, but there are "Hotter" titles waiting for Western release.

"FUNimation Entertainment reveals its first acquisition of 2008."

It'll be a license announcement.

I wouldn't completely rule out Baccano!, but I've heard quite a few people guessing Claymore or D.Gray-Man based on the (dark, gothic) font.

Although, a license rescue of Hellsing Ultimate or Black Lagoon is also possible, I guess...

I've heard Black Lagoon tossed around a fair bit. FUNimation's already shown public interest in several Geneon titles though, so I'd actually write off Hellsing Ultimate and Black Lagoon, only because I think that'd be too obvious for a giant reveal spectacular with convenient countdown.

Meh, only FUNi knows.

Call me crazy, but I just can't see them getting a deal done that fast, since they are in the early stages of negotiation with Geneon. I hope they get R X J. I want this thing to come out on dvd so bad.

Well, blah. If that is their Big huge reveal, that just sucks!

Even a dumb monkey would know that Claymore would get an US release some time. The thing has been a hit anime fans over here, since it aired in Japan, so its not really a shock that someone pick it up. I want something shocking, something that would make fall out of my chair or at least make me happy.

And about Claymore,

Quoted from ANN.

In a world rife with deadly creatures called "youma", a young silver eyed woman, Clare, works on behalf of an organisation that trains female youma halfbreeds into warriors with the ability to destroy these creatures. Considered a rogue for picking up a stray child & almost losing herself to her youma side by "Awakening", she is constantly assigned rather dangerous missions..

Claymore - I've seen a couple episodes, and I was only moderately impressed. The character designs lost the very unique feel of the manga, becoming a bit more standard anime-ish, and the action scenes had no energy. I'm sure it has indeed been a hit, but somehow it didn't work for me like the manga does.

Reported by ANN today,

Funimation has the license of Mahou Sensei Negima! OVA Haru.

It was also noted that Funimation does not have the license rights to Romeo × Juliet.

Fumimation did tell ANN this,

ANN wrote:Funimation reaffirmed that Gonzo asked Funimation to monitor and take action against unauthorized distribution of Gonzo's titles as part of their longstanding relationship.

Today is Anime Boston con and we should hear some anime news this weekend of license deals and new anime coming down the pipe line.

The dub for Gurren Lagann's will be started over from scratch an will not use the ADV Films dub that they started on.

Gundam 00 was an obvious license. It was really just a matter of when.

I'm finding the Gurren Lagaan news surprising however. It's not all that often a company loses a license.

It is a very big surprise, but I think this the bigger surprise out of the whole thing.

This was report on AoD web site.

from Aod web site. wrote:Gurren Lagann from Bandai Entertainment is apparently going to get an unusual release from the company as they're going to rush it out the door starting in July - subtitled only. A dubbed version will be released starting in the first quarter of 2009. But in 2008, releases of the entire series will come out in July, August and September, presumably in the same kind of double disc sets mentioned for other new titles.

It has been sort of suspected that they have had it for awhile. But, I believe that this is the first actual confirmation.

Not sure, where to put this one at.

Bandai will re-release Ghost in the Shell: Innocence film on DVD and Blu-ray Disc with an English dub. The first time that it was release, it didn't have an english dub.

The English dub will be from the same studio that has dub Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society television movie.
