Gladly. Baha!

I finished the anime and the ova, which is the "0" episode of season 2. Can't wait for season 2, honestly. It's the only "romance" anime that I haven't dropped. I liked all the way through. It's very well-done and interesting, keeps you watching but isn't full of mush, and I love it. I'd try picking up the light novels but unfortunately, can't read Japaneeeese, so I'm waiting for the English release of that.

Yay for Funi picking it up! Man, I want to see a VA list announcement soooon.

Anime Expo week license roundup:

ADV/Sentai Filmworks: Fist of the North Star Raoh Gaiden: Ten no Haoh
Rightstuf/Nozomi: Aria the Origination & Arietta, Antique Bakery.....and Junjou Romantica
Bandai: Eureka Seven - good night, sleep tight, young lovers
Funimation: Sands of Destruction (World Destruction: Sekai Bokumetsu no Rokunin), and Sengoku Basara

Pretty underwhelming actually.

Aria and Eureka Seven make sense. I find Sengoku Basara surprising, considering the audience that did follow it when it was airing and the fact that it's based on a PS2 game that wasn't that well known.

Well, we have gotten game-based anime before that are based on somewhat obscure or unreleased outside of Japan titles. Sakura Taisen and Super Robot Wars are testaments to that. Sengoku Basara and Sands of Destruction sort of seem like the type of titles to fit in with Funimation's image anyway.

It won't surprise me if they license Valkyria Chronicles later this year.

Huh, looks like Kannagi got licensed by Bandai. DVDs available only on RightStuf and Amazon, but it's also available streamed on ANN immediately. I watched it when it was airing last fall and it was pretty enjoyable. It has a Lucky Star kind of vibe while not exactly being about otaku-ism (although it contains a lot of those in-jokes) or slice of life, but that probably has to do with the fact that the director was one of Lucky Star's directors. It's produced by A-1 Studios and the leading VA is the recently popular Tomatsu Haruka.

FLAG!, I was curious about this Anime.
The plot is just odd though.?, but might be worth watching.

Funimation licensed Casshern Sins and Eden of the East. They apparently just finished negotiations for EotE yesterday.

Also, four Detective Conan/Case Closed movies: The Last Magician of the Century, Captured in Her Eyes, Count Down to Heaven, and The Phantom of Baker Street.

So, Viz was saving their license announcements for Comic-Con:
Inuyasha the Final Act, Kekkaishi, and Vampire Knight.

No surprise really for Inuyasha and Vampire Knight. Kekkaishi is a solid title.

It makes sense that Viz would license Kekkaishi, because they've already licensed the manga. However, it is a bit surprising that they would license Inuyasha The Final Act since it hasn't even aired in Japan yet. But I think Viz would do what they've done with Naruto Shippuden (and what FUNimation's done with FMA: Brotherhood) and post an episode each week on their website.

ADV/Sentai Filmworks has licensed Clannad After Story, Ghost Hound, He is my Master, Popotan, and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar.

The last two are license-rescues from Geneon.
Apparently, ADVs new way of license announcements will be via tRSI solicitations.

Aniplex to start publishing in the US with Gurren movies. Aniplex America, who we've seen working with Bandai Entertainment for a number of years, has finally decided to get into the distribution market. For their first trick, they will be releasing both of the Gurren Lagann movies this summer. The first movie, Childhood's End, will be available July 1st, while The Lights in the Skies are Stars will be ready on July 30th.

Sentai is streaming Highschool of the Dead.

Right Stuf has So Ra No Wo To and Utena.

I'm too lazy to find and link to the ANN articles.

I was actually in the room when they did all the announcements for aniplex and Funimation, and aniplex went live with their US websites about an hour into the panel. Good night overall.

Funimation also is rereleasing Hellsing TV, Gantz, Kaleidostar, Pecemaker Kuronage, Tehxnolyze, Chrono Crusade, Armitage the 3rd, and practically every Tenchi Muyo that fell out of license.

They will also be Simulcasting Shiki and Moyashamon Live Action, starting July 8th.

Aniplex will be streaming content over youtube, starting with 22 minutes of a movie, Welcome to the Space show, and the series Miracle Train. They expect to be adding more later, includign R.O.D. TV.
