"Blame!" and the Safeguard Symbol

*SPOILERS* for the final logs of Blame, so be warned.

After finishing reading through all of Blame, something got me thinking. When I first had seen the panels with the Safeguard, I had tought they had inverted cross carved in their heads; however, later, close-up panels dispelled this fear: the symbol was similar, but it looked more like an arrow and the "arms" were disjointed. (Here is an example: http://darkp2t.deviantart.com/art/Safeg ... -141640652 ) However, by the end of the last chapters, Chibo transforms her body in the final "level 9 form". And it has a shining halo: https://drexstar.files.wordpress.com/20 ... ginal1.jpg
Now, that got me thinking. If Chibo, a supposedly "saintly" figure (for she gives birth, after attaining this form, to the first human with NetGenes in eons) has a halo, could the Safeguard's symbol be a stylized inverted cross to show their dedition to sto her?

Maybe (and hopefully) I am reading way too much into this, but does anyone know an answer?
