Good action mangas.

Post about anime's sister, manga in here. Manga reviews accepted in here as well.

Good action mangas.

I'm relativly new to manga and I was wondering if you knew any good action ones. I'm already going to check out Trigun (the planet's name is "Gunsmoke", so you know it's action-packed), and I've heard FMA mentioned a few times so it might be worth a look.

Anything with guns, robots, military or urban life would also be cool. Nothing fanservicey.

EDIT: I've also been meaning to check out City Hunter and Case Closed/Detective Conan. They any good?

FullMetal Alchemist is an excellent choice, as it defies the conventions of most Shounen series and offers a deeper, darker storyline mixed in with all that action.

A good read.

I must admit I was put off by FMA at first because of Ed's statement to Rose in one of the earlier volumes about how prayer is useless. But now that I've read more about it on here, I can actually see the Christian themes in it (even if the author is not a Christian).

Yeah, the religious content is really the only grey area in the series. Edward both questions and suggests the existence of God on and off throughout the series, so you'll have to make of it what you will. From what I've read, though, it's more that he's angry with God rather than disbelief.

Well I can understand that because it's a very human story. Everyone's been angry at God before. It's a process that plenty of people go through, only to grow in faith.

I would suggest Black Cat and One Piece. Also, you may want to look into Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch, if you can find it.

I'll throw out another plug for Black Cat, Rurouni Kenshin, and Fullmetal Alchemist. Case Closed is good, but it's not big on action ['tis a mystery series].

One I think that fits the bill on almost everything is definately Eden. search it at darkhorse.com and see if it's your taste. It's not fanservicey at all and done in a mature manner, but there is some brief nudity and more mature/complex themes.

I'm enjoying the snot out of Suikoden III, and I have no prior experience with any of the games, nor will I likely play any of them. Just the same, the Manga is good. Very good. If you like the Fantasy genre its worth a look.

Detective Conan is a pretty good mystery series, but it doesn't technically qualify as action, and it's quite long (and still running).

Off the top of my head, I can't think of much that exactly fits your criteria, but I'll go ahead and throw in another recommendation for FMA.

You could also try One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto, if you wish. They don't involve guns and robots, but they do have plenty of action.

i dunno if i should refer you to the "Manga Recommendations" thread or not. but anyways, it would be better if you put up some criteria that you're looking for in the mangas. but anyways:

(good action mangas that are around 13-16 age rating)
Bleach
Hunter x Hunter
One Piece
Yu Yu Hakusho
FMA
Black Cat
Getbackers
Akira
Flame of Recca

(good action mangas that have some questionable or mature content. probably 18+ age rating)
Berserk
Blame
Gantz
Basilisk

as for City Hunter, i've heard that's a pretty mature manga (not that i've personally read it) but don't take my word for it...

P.S. nice new avatar Fish and Chips!!

Actually, this discussion should be relegated to the recommendations thread:

Hopefully the suggests so far will be sufficient, but if you need more request there.
