Quick Rules of the Board

As obvious from the name, this is the music area of CAA. Just to clear up a few things that could be asked:

1. Is it okay for me to post about secular bands?
- Of course. However, this is a Christian run site so try to lay off the heavy-metal lyric quoting.
2. Is there any band I can't post on?
- Just use your good sense; nothing obscene or anything like that. You're all smart cookies.
3. Can I post about concerts and stuff, or is that considered 'plugging'?
- Yes you may. You may also post about links to artist sites, etc.
4. Can I post about things like Winmx and other music sources?
- Only if it's legal.

Most of all this is an opinions board, so treat it as such. 'Nuff said.

Do you mean by heavy metal stuff like Metallica?

I meant more the death thrash. But just use your good common sense about posting lyrics to things that may be questionable. Overall we try to keep this site as friendly as possible.

Wait, only J-Pop no American Pop such as:
-Justin Timberlake
-Britney Spears
-Christina Aguilera

No pop singers that think they are rappers:
-Aaron Carter

.....That pretty much covers it.

Mod note: Not to be nasty, but restrict posts on this particular thread to specific questions about this forum's rules, please.

question, what's CAA's policy on giving links to sheet music to songs, uploading sheet music, tabs, etc?

Hmm... I don't know that we've thought through that one yet. I'll bring it up with the other mods and we'll let you know. Thanks for asking!!!

EDIT: OK. Looks like we have a consensus.

Looks like we're going to have to request that people follow the legal rules on this one. Sorry guys! (I'll PM you lynx, since this edit won't bump the post).

What about heavy/death metal Jrock bands? Is it okay to discuss them if we can't understand what is being said and just like the beat and if we can understand and the lyrics to just not disscuss them? I'm a fan of Dir en Grey, but some of their translated lyrics are kind of gross so I'm wondering.

The issue here more about being conscientious of the message. I don't think people will have much trouble with the lyrics (understandable or no) per se. In fact, it might help broaden your horizens if someone explains why you may not want to go around singing "that particular lyric."

I've launched my own Internet Radio station. Is this section the place where I can post on it, or does that go in the "Cool Websites" section?

It might fit better in the links section, but a radio show could fit under jam session. I'd say go ahead and put it in either one.

With a longer span of time and a new Internet radio station I'd like to know whether I'm allowed to direct link to a PLS file to access the station (A PLS is a brief text file that stands for a playlist that can be read by programs like Winamp).

I guess so. I dunno. (I don't have a problem with it). It's just using someone else's bandwidth, right?

Correct, it won't be on your bandwidth. Thank you very much.

Hello again. In another thread I am involved in a dispute came up over multiple posting in a thread dedicated to one's own music project (like an Internet radio station or a podcast). Assuming others have not posted responses, is it acceptable to make a new post in the thread on top of one's older posts, i.e. to inform forum goers of new additions and whatnot? If so, what guidelines should we observe so as to not violate the rules on SPAM?

Nothing satanic, huh? Guess that means I can't post Justin Bieber lyrics!

Ah, yes! I love the Internet. If I said something like that in real life I'd probably get mugged by a gang of teenage girls.

ok then. but heavy metal isnt really bad. it just depends on the band singing it.

Correct, so long as whatever your posting about isn't breaking site rules.
