I would like to know when TeeLay was appointed the supreme authority on all music.

I would like to know why you would bother coming into a thread with no good intentions and no interest towards the topic of music itself, just to make a smirk remark.

I never said I was a supreme authority on all music.
I was stating my opinion.

You come into a topic and not only do you not state an opinion, you attempt to mock me.

You earned someone's respect, I'm just not sure who it is.

If I may interject before this turns ugly or anything, I really like O' God, The Aftermath now that I've had it for like...almost three years. It took a while to grow on me, but I like a lot of the songs on it. I think it's better than Redeemer, actually. Redeemer feels too much like Underoath when Underoath does a good job of being Underoath.

I have a wealth of interest of music of all genres. What I lack is the necessity of having my taste shot down for an arbitrary reason. What you lack is much of a sense of humor.

People die on the Internet for one of three things: religions, politics, and music.

Esoteric and The Esoteric are entirely different bands. The Esoteric's vocals aren't meant to be intimidating; they're used for atmospheric effect.

I'll pm you later about Urna, as there isn't really anywhere you can listen to them online.

Norma Jean started off as a Botch rip-off, but are no longer that way.

Also, I find it very hard to believe that you've heard all of those bands, especially Decrepit Birth; their new cd, Diminishing Between Worlds, puts nearly all other technical death metal to shame.

It's too bad there's practically nobody aside from myself and knives here who are into extreme metal at all...

I know, I just like Between the Buried and Me more than Decrepit.
I can't explain why.

Norma Jean was at its pinnacle of Botch rip-offness when they made "O God, the Aftermath." I never said I don't like that album considering they ripped off something GOOD.

"Characterantula" actually improved he sound they borrowed from Botch.

How did I shoot down your taste, FishandChips?
I stated my opinion towards Norma Jean.

I don't just listen to heavy music either.

And I have a good sense of humor, I just don't find your snide remarks comical in the slightest bit.

You didn't.

I've never given you the chance.

Think I touched on a nerve with this one.

Back on topic, I'm partial to Rammstein, but not all that well read on the Metal genre as a whole.

Sorry, Fish and Chips, I came off as a jerk with that one.
Sorry 'bout that. Nothing against you.

Anyways, Rammstein's decent, yes.

Metal has so many subdivisions its hard to know what is and what isn't Metal.
The genre varies from Led Zeppelin to Agalloch to Mayhem, ect.

I recommend a good wikipedia search.

If you ever refer to the amazing Rammstein as only "Decent" Ever again...I will burn the city you live in to the ground and salt the Earth. *shakes head* SHAME ON YOU. A SHAME ON YOUR FAMILY.

'S ALL GOOD, SON. So let's make amends.

I tend to be wary of genres, since that's largely how I sort my music on iTunes. Metal is one of the more diverse types of sound there is.

I'm sorry.
Please don't bring Chuck Norris into this like last time.

Does anyone hear like Agalloch?

Currently, I'm spending a family vacation in a lodge in Vermont, and I couldn't think of a more fitting band to play.

Their instrumentation is amazing.

Other than us, I very highly doubt it.

There are a couple people that will.

I think Kkun said he thought they were decent.

Have you heard their older demos, Eric?

I've heard all their music except for The White, which will be released on February 29th.

I don't suppose you've listened to Scarve, Sybreed, Tesseract, or In-Quest?

I'm not really big on Agalloch (although I do love some of their guitar work), Tom, but the stuff off of the White EP seems like it might be intriguing. :| I think they're talented, like a lot of metal bands, but it just isn't my thing so I don't enjoy it in large doses.

Also, Eric, what constitutes extreme metal? I want to hear some now. Bands?

Cradle of Filth is one popular example.

Oh yeah, Winds of Plague is huge around here. Every time they play one of our smaller venues, it's packed wall to wall. They have some good stuff, musically, but some of their lyrics make me lol.

Yeah, they present themselves as a serious Metal band, but their lyrics are so simple and funny.
They blend so much stuff together.

Something for all the hxr kids to dance to and the metal heads in the back to headbang to.

Sweet stuff.

Extreme metal is death, black, doom, and thrash, as well as combinations of them. Not Cradle of Filth...they're just lame.

death:
Immolation
Incantation
Suffocation
Kronos
Wormed
Decrepit Birth
Psycroptic

black:
Krohm
Weakling
Averse Sefira
Marduk
Imperial Crystalline Entombment
Deathspell Omega
early Emperor
Immortal

doom:
Esoteric
Worship
My Dying Bride
Candlemass
Isole
Novembers Doom
Electric Wizard

thrash:
Avenger of Blood
early Megadeth
early Metallica
early Anthrax
Sodom
Sabbat (UK)

This video is a great example of what death metal is all about: KICKING ***.

Wow. That is probably the dumbest thing I have ever read on CAA. Congrats. Do you understand that some English words have more than one meaning? I really hope you were not serious with that post.

Funny how Cradle of Filth is a legitimate example of Extreme Metal.
Sure, they're lame and I don't like them, but they're a popular example Kkun might have heard of it.
Hence why I said it.
