Prayer for Progress

Hey CAA,

I've been meaning to post a prayer request here for quite a while.

So, here's the situation (and, I promise, I'll try to keep it brief and not too technical). My parents don't have the best health, they have fatigue/pain, sleep problems, and mental fog, but manage to get by in the world. As it turns out, I (and my sister) managed to inherit it from both of them... which has caused some difficulty with our health. Currently, I am unable to do much. The fatigue, nausea, sleep difficulty, and mental fog prevents me from having a job and severely limits what I can do around the house. This has been going on all our lives, but has slowly gotten worse... to the point that both my sister and I had to move back with our parents. We were making some progress... my sister was actually feeling a bit better and managed to get a part time job... but now her health has declined quite a bit and is barely hanging on to the job requirements (and can't do much outside of it). It has been quite discouraging. And, additionally, my mom has felt worse the past month or so due to a cracked rib (and has had trouble sleeping). Needless to say, moral is at a fairly new low. Pain from current new illness is upsetting, and the lack of significant improvement is equally discouraging. Not to mention doctor bills and all that fun stuff. I think that it is all finally starting to get to us.

I know that it may be hard to understand chronic fatigue/illness like this, especially the discouragement that goes along with it, but your prayers would be very much appreciated. Over the years, we have had many friends and church family pray for us, for healing and such... without much progress. So, that said, I'm not certain what the prayers should be about... so that is why I left the prayer request as for "progress."

Thanks!

I understand in a very small way. From your description, "progress" is definitely the best way to put it so my prayer is for that.

I deal with chronic illness myself (also from birth), so I can understand somewhat. It *is* very hard --and sometimes it's difficult to understand the whys and how it can be used by God.

Hugs. Hang in there. The Lord is faithful. So very faithful. I don't really have words right now (I'm not having the best brain functioning day), but just wanted to let you know you are not alone in this.

Praying for you and your family.

I have a friend who deals with chronic health troubles. Some days he's doing pretty good, other days it's really bad. Prayers for both you and your sister.

Hey Everyone!

Again, thanks for your prayers. Just wanted to give a quick update, as promised.

I'm beginning to feel a bit better and am finally able to do some more physical work... and seem to be slowly building up more stamina and such. So that is great news. Mental fatigue and brain fog has been worse, uncertain why (chances are, I'll go see another specialist for that). But, at least, progress is happening. It is encouraging. Family is generally feeling better, although a light flu might be making its rounds. Not great, but progress. I thank everyone for their continued support through prayers.

Praying, Kraavdran. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. My sister suffers from a lot of the same things, so I can sympathize at least a little bit. I hope you keep getting better!

Sorry for such a late reply (although, I guess I don't know if one was expected or not now that I think about it). I haven't been hanging out at the CAA much and forgot to post on this thread.

So, lots of stuff happening. My physical health was doing fairly well, although quite limited due to my mental fatigue. I ended up going to a Neurologist and she found several peculiarities, mostly involving the way my brain processes vision (extremely inefficiently). I am doing plenty of "exercises" for that and also went to a eye doctor to get some testing done for "prism" glasses (basically, if you need them, they will really help fatigue levels). Still waiting on the glasses, but the exercises seem to be helping (still fatigued, but I am able to do a little bit more a little bit quicker than before). So, it seems, progress is coming together. I guess that I'm not completely better yet or anything. But my Neurologist has recently started using words like "pumped" and "huge impact" in terms of treatment's probable effectiveness (something I haven't heard a doctor say in quite a while :P).

This all said, thank you all for your prayers! I really appreciate the support. Each post you guys posted was encouraging in its own way. So thank you!

Hi Kraavdran,

That's great news! I'm glad to hear that the neurologist you saw was able to pinpoint some specific things and get you started on some potential treatments--I know that with a lot of things even just finding out a correct diagnosis can make a big impact in moving towards treatment.

Here's hoping that these treatment steps have just as much of a positive impact as your neurologist believes is possible.
