this may sound typical, but i got this job recently as a kitchen worker in this nursing home. I'd been praying for a job and so thats what i got. but believe it or not, theres a whole lot of stuff to memorize, and Im having such a hard time remembering everything, not getting done quick enough, making mistakes and all, that I'm so down on myself. I want to quit so much cuz i just dont like the work AT ALL, but they're so behind on help, that I gotta work almost every day and weekend, even sundays. Im having a hard time hearing from God on this one. I want to believe that God has something better for me since he wants the best for his people, but maybe He just wants me to stick with it, not give up. Please pray that I wont get confused while working, and for guidence on whether I should keep this job or not. Thanx!
(although I do have this other job thats just one morning a week, that I do like, so that is something, thank God).

Watch for God to use you in this job, though He will probably use you no matter where you go.

You've got my prayers.
Also: don't worry, it'll come together. I've worked in restaurants too, and after a few shifts I'm sure you'll have everything figured out.

Hi! (if you didnt notice, im the one that posted this thread). I've got a testimony to share. Ok, well, I couldnt stand the job, right? and was all discouraged, confused, and very aggrivated with this girl I was working with. Then I turn on the TV and this preacher guy said "many are the afflictions of the rightous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all." (from Mark?) So I was still unhappy, but believing that little scripture, knowing God never fails us. So the next day of work was a little better. Then I go in today, and theres that girl that aggrivated me so much. But then we actually clicked. Seriously, its like we became pretty good friends in just a few hours. And she even asked me a little about God, which was great. And the work wasnt too bad today. I had been pretty down for maybe a week, then like in 48 hours, God turned my situation around.
:) I may still quit when school starts again, cuz of homework n' such, but for now its better. Thanks guys so much for your prayers!
Hey, your welcome my friend:hug:.

Wow. It is not often one has such direct results. Glad this could happen to you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I meant to post on this so much sooner, but I never got a chance.
I completely understand your situation...er, former situation. About two months ago I got my first job, as a waitress no less. I didn't get any sort of training at all, just the other waitresses and the kitchen staff and all that telling me what I did wrong every night. Made for very wearying, humbling work, I assure you. And mentally, I'd come home exhausted...for a while I was ready to throw in the towel. It was too much for me to think about at one time; one night I screwed up really, really horribly (forgot to turn in the ticket for their food for 45 minutes), got shouted at in the kitchen, and thought I'd lose my job for sure. Worse, none of the other waitresses were friendly to me at all, and one of them I was sure outright hated me. And then on the ride home I'd try to talk with my dad about it, but all I'd get was a lecture. It was a very lonely, frustrating and painful time.
But, just as in your situation, God pulled me through. I'm not miss social butterfly, but I did hit it off rather well with a few girls; even that one who I thought hated me! God will prepare you for your job; you'll notice it will get a teeny bit easier every day. Like in my case, after a while I didn't have to strain to think of the salad dressing lists, or remember to get their drinks, or to offer more napkins...etc. It just begins to come naturally. I'm sure God will continue to teach you new things, and even provide you new opportunities to share the good news (*cough singing while sweeping cough hack*), even if it's not with words.
Whew, what a post. Anyway, I hope this helps; you're of course welcome to pm or email me and we can talk more.

I work in a resturant at the moment.. it's always hard during the first few weeks/days, because things tend to move pretty fast.. I'm pretty new to my job too! Once you get the hang of it though, you'll may well find it's better than working in a shop/supermarket :)
