Hey guys, what happened to Pilgrim's Progress? I just signed up for a position, but I'm not sure if I've gotten one yet. I'm so curious! What's the plot? Who are the characters? Gahh!:drool:

I'm sorry you've been kept in the dark...things have been rather...well, slow with PP right now. But we're going to change that here quickly, I promise.
The basic idea is that the manga is like a futuristic, sci-fish retelling of the story. It revolves around a guy named Chris, his wife Christina, and a street preacher who reveals to him his true diseased like state, Evan. Thus begins Chris' journey to get to the Heavenly City. Basically, it's a biiiiig humongous allegory for Christian life, just like the original was. Only we've snipped some of the more tedious "talking heads" (i.e. big theological discussions and such) and put in things like exploding cars and such.

I wish I could help as well. I love to write, and my drawings aren't terrible (although they could definately use some work! ^^) so if ever writers/drawers are desperately needed, I could help out.

Hi there;
I'm new here, but thought I might contribute a bit on this subject, as I am a Pilgrim's Progress NUT.
There was a comic version of Pilgrim's Progress published about ten years ago by Marvel in cooperation with Thomas Nelson, a Christian publisher. Brought the story into modern times. It looked like it was a rush job - the art and coloring lacked polish and they hacked the story so bad that much of the good stuff in the original book was lost. I'd tell you more, but my copy is in storage in the States and I'm in Thailand.

On the manga front, there is a book called "New Pilgrim's Progress" listed on the Christian Comics International Web site, published by China Alliance Press in 1995. Although I have tried to obtain a copy of this book, it's been no dice up until now, though I think I may have a new line on obtaining a copy through a friend. Here is the CCI page with the info. I have read the original multiple times, along with many "updated" versions. I'd be glad to contribute if you need someone who knows LOTS about the story.

Innnnnnnteresting. Jason---and all the others wishing to help---we're going to try very hard to have a meeting this upcoming Monday night. Anyone interested in helping out is invited to come; I can't promise anything, but chances are you could walk out with a job on this project.
And yes Jason, we may very well need someone like you...I was making "notes" on scenes and stuff straight from an overdue copy at the library...quite tedious.

There's this amazing new version of the Pilgrim's Progress - Pilgrim's Progress Today...it brings it into the modern world really well. Video games, all that "angel" stuff going around...and various other cool things.
But I'm glad to help if any is needed, but I can't show up at 9:30pm (my time) on Monday night...although now it seems to be at 3:00pm (my time), so I might be able to be half an hour late (I get home at 3:30pm (my time))
What? I'm rambling AGAIN?!
So much for my New Year's Resolution...

i dont think this thread has been posted on in a while, so i will introduce you all to a habit that "the majan" has- i always revive dead posts...
anyways, i think pp is a good idea... i would love to help in any way- i can write, draw, conceptualize plots- anything and everything (this is not the majan being prideful, its the majan wanting to help). the book is good; the manga idea is great... lets take the idea and keep it alive. we could go places with a well-made manga.
when's the next planning meeting? im pretty sure you guys are about seven hours ahead of me.. youre meetings might be at four p.m. here, but thats at ten p.m. here, so ill try to attend the next one (assuming its not at six a.m. here or something). im a night person, so as long as my server doesnt crash again, i will probably be able to attend the next one.
